Suitable for both gelled and liquid spirit, these stoves are maintenance-free, easy to use, very handy and clean (with a little water in the spirit, the soot tendency disappears!). They can achieve satisfactory calorific values and are an inexpensive alternative. They heat quietly, but require more fuel and more time for the same heat output than, for example, the more powerful gas or petrol stoves.
