Petroleum lanterns are a very down-to-earth and traditional way of bringing light into the dark. They have been used for decades to illuminate a wide variety of scenarios. They are a reliable, bright and inexpensive source of light. However, we would like to take this opportunity to point out that the use of paraffin lanterns with incandescent mantles always requires intensive study of the operating instructions and the general use of pure paraffin (NO SCENTED PETROLEUM - it clogs the nozzles!). It is also essential to test the lantern at home - or better still, several times - BEFORE travelling to familiarise yourself with the lantern and its use.
The advantages of the paraffin lantern: low-cost operation, very bright light independent of electricity, can be repaired at any time with the available spare parts, traditional shape, romantic ambience and simply beautiful!
